The 488 Spider’s cabin was designed to exude extreme sportiness without sacrificing occupant comfort. With a focus on the driver’s needs, driver commands are positioned conveniently on the steering wheel and the wraparound satellite pods. The 488 Spider integrates Apple CarPlay, and a new Sport infotainment system, designed for ease of navigation, keeps the various functionalities immediately at hand. The body of the 488 Spider emphasizes aerodynamics and the delight of drop-top driving. Key to its character the 488 Spider features very sculptural flanks and a short, muscular front wing. The front is characterized by a single grille opening. The engine cover features longitudinal ribs which generate a three-dimensional, dynamic effect and are flanked outboard by sculpted mesh grilles. The 488 Spider also introduces a new color, Blu Corsa, which almost seems to blend with the sky overhead.Powertrain
The 488 Spider houses a V8 Turbo engine with a maximum power output of 493 kW (670 CV) at 8000 rpm and maximum torque of 760 Nm at 3000 rpm in 7th gear. To achieve this result, Ferrari drew on its experience in both F1 and GT racing as well as the full the know-how gained by Ferrari engineers over the last decade through the XX program. Voted on by 63 jurors from more than 30 countries, Ferrari was honored with the coveted International Engine of the Year Award for this new V8 Turbo engine in 2016. The gearbox of the 488 GTB is a 7 gear F1 dual clutch transmission and features unique ratios to make the most of the engine’s incredible torque. Variable Torque Management delivers increasing amounts of torque up through the gears.
